State Secretary Sören Bartol learns about GWH-HessenHaus
In fall 2025, GWH Wohnungsgesellschaft presented GWH-HessenHaus, a cost-optimized new building concept designed to promote local housing construction in cooperation with local authorities and investors.
Word of the solution from Hesse quickly spread to Berlin, where it has also attracted interest: yesterday, Thursday, Sören Bartol, Parliamentary State Secretary for Housing, Urban Development, and Construction, and Daniel Bettermann, Member of the German Bundestag and Commissioner for Skilled Trades and Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, came to Kassel to learn about the concept of affordable housing construction.
The industry has long been concerned about rising construction costs and the ongoing housing shortage. While the federal government is currently working on a planning approach for Germany following the introduction of the so-called Bau-Turbo (construction turbo) with building type E, which is intended to enable simple and cost-effective construction by reducing building standards, GWH, in collaboration with the firm grabowski.spork architektur, has already launched a similar concept for Hesse that takes both approaches into account: For a fixed price of €3,950 per square meter of living space for the basic house, investors receive a modern apartment building that meets the GEG energy standard and apartments with balconies/terraces and underfloor heating.
