More than just a service—a home for people.

As a housing company, we see it as our mission to create affordable housing while ensuring a high quality of life, which includes aspects related to climate protection. This also involves developing our neighborhoods in a way that fosters social interaction and neighborly support. In doing so, we take a holistic approach that combines the conscious use of resources and climate protection (Environment), social value for residents (Social), and responsible corporate governance (Governance).
Environment

Climate-friendly building stock

In line with our decarbonization strategy, we are making targeted investments in our existing portfolio and, for new construction, we are focusing on energy-efficient and resource-conserving building methods to fulfill our environmental responsibilities.

Further strengthen our commitment to climate action.

Climate change also presents the housing sector with new challenges. That is why we are examining the impacts of our business activities, as well as the resulting risks and opportunities for future development. With approximately 53,000 residential units, GWH’s building portfolio provides a key starting point for relevant climate protection measures. Based on this, we have developed a decarbonization strategy that specifically outlines our contribution to an energy-efficient and lower-emission building portfolio.

From energy-efficient renovations of existing buildings to new construction meeting the KfW 55 standard (or better) and resource-efficient infill development that minimizes the sealing of new land, all the way to the use of renewable energy, we are implementing these measures step by step. At the same time, we are preparing our existing portfolio for the necessary adaptations to climate change and continuing to develop it in this direction.

Together, we are creating living environments that are resilient to climate change.

Developing good housing and neighborhoods.

Housing is about more than just individual apartments. As a real estate company, we help strengthen and enhance social cohesion and quality of life in our GWH neighborhoods.

Our neighborhood development initiatives are tailored to the diverse needs of the people living in our large neighborhoods and create appropriate local services. Together with social and charitable partners, we develop a living environment that meets residents’ needs, strengthens community life, and fosters a sense of neighborhood. In doing so, we implement targeted measures to make efficient use of available resources and achieve tangible improvements for our tenants.

Together, we create neighborhoods worth living in.
