GWH inaugurates heating system in Dunant housing estate

Regional products without long supply chains protect the climate and the environment. What is now generally known about fruit and vegetables is of course also true when it comes to energy production.
In the Henri-Dunant-Siedlung in Frankfurt-Sossenheim, GWH has built a local heating center including a pipeline network and extensively renovated the buildings in a large-scale project to supply the neighbourhood with sustainable energy. It is a significant milestone towards the neighborhood's goal of climate neutrality: modern heating systems now provide extremely efficient heat and hot water to the apartments in the west of Frankfurt. GWH has been investing in the energy-efficient refurbishment of the Dunant estate since 2021. Thanks to modern insulation, many of the buildings from the early 1960s have been upgraded to KfW standards between 100 and 70, significantly reducing the energy consumption of the residential buildings. At the same time, the heating system was converted to use renewable energy and a pipeline network around 2,800 meters long was laid for this purpose. Since the new local heating center on Dufourstrasse went into operation, households have been reliably supplied with climate-friendly heat, which is generated right on their doorstep and will contribute to long-term cost stability with regard to energy prices.
