Through its long-term financing, the EIB provides GWH with reliable investment flexibility and helps the company plan and implement new construction and energy-efficiency upgrades on a large scale over several years.

Given the extremely tight housing market, we are using this financing to create more affordable housing and make existing buildings fit for the future through faster, modern, and resource-efficient construction and energy solutions. Approximately 90 million euros from the loan will go toward new construction projects meeting modern energy standards, comprising a total of 550 apartments, while 110 million euros are earmarked for the energy-efficient retrofitting of about 5,000 existing apartments. The goal is to significantly reduce the energy consumption of existing buildings and stabilize heating costs for tenants. A key focus is on residential neighborhoods for families with moderate and lower incomes, particularly in growth regions such as the Rhine-Main area. The investments aim to curb the rise in housing costs without compromising climate protection.
