Grand Opening of the #CommunityCenter on Schelmengraben

Enabling older adults to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, even when they need assistance with daily living—that is the goal of the #Quartiershäuser initiative, through which the state capital of Wiesbaden aims to more closely integrate housing, care, and social participation right on their doorsteps.
In the Schelmengraben residential neighborhood, this concept is now taking shape and coming to life thanks to an initiative by the GWH housing association: With a grand opening ceremony and a diverse program for all generations, the new neighborhood structures were unveiled, and services were expanded not only for older residents but also for younger ones.
To carry out this project, GWH is utilizing the facilities of the existing senior living complex at August-Bebel-Straße 7. The Caritas Association of Wiesbaden-Rheingau-Taunus has been active in the area since 2025, managing the local community center and providing nursing care when needed. As part of the #Quartiershäuser project, additional services are now being gradually established and specifically integrated with one another, in part to spare residents long trips.
