The first GWH HessenHaus is being built in Fulda
With the GWH-HessenHaus, the GWH housing association has developed a cost-optimized new building concept to promote housing construction in Hesse. GWH presented the innovative concept at the end of last year, and now it's official: the first GWH-HessenHaus will be built in the cathedral city in eastern Hesse.
The city of Fulda has granted the construction subsidiary GWH Bauprojekte GmbH a low-interest leasehold on a plot of land on Adalbert-Stifter-Straße in the Ziehers-Süd district for the realization of the project. The municipal authorities recently gave the green light for this. If all parties continue to work together as they have done so far, construction of the eleven publicly subsidized apartments could begin before the end of this year.
Fulda's mayor, Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld, sees the project as a "beacon" for housing construction in Fulda and Hesse: "Especially in times when many investors are shying away from the risks of the current conditions in the construction industry, the GWH-HessenHaus demonstrates how effectively urgently needed living space can be created. I am particularly pleased that the first project of this kind is now being built here in Fulda." GWH has already proven itself to be a reliable, long-term partner in other areas of the city of Fulda. The location on Adalbert-Stifter-Straße is ideal, not least because of the hospital, which is the largest employer in the region, Wingenfeld emphasized. "The city of Fulda is providing concrete support for the project by offering terms that are among the best in Germany, with a ground rent of only 1.2 percent." In addition, there is the possibility of providing additional support for the social housing being built through the city's subsidy program, according to the mayor.
