We are now receiving daily media reports on the threat of gas and coal shortages and the associated burden of rising energy costs.
The enormous price jumps on the tight world market are not only noticeable at the filling station, but will also have a particular impact on all our heating costs.
At present, it is difficult to predict how prices will develop. However, it is unlikely that they will fall back to the level of previous years in the foreseeable future.
According to current forecasts, the current price hikes will result in considerable additional costs for our tenants.
We at GWH therefore see it as our responsibility to anticipate the expected high additional claims for the 2022 billing year in your own interest. By increasing your monthly advance payment for heating costs by €0.75 perm2 of living space, we are counteracting high additional claims, which can quickly become a debt trap. We hope to accommodate you with this step and enable you to plan better. At the same time, we would like to sensitize you to the responsible use of our resources. In this context, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection has called on the population to actively reduce their own consumption in view of the current situation. In this way, each individual can make a contribution to society and the environment.
At the same time, we recommend that you build up reserves for the outstanding statement for 2021, as the cost increases will already be noticeable here. You will receive the statement by the end of the year at the latest.
Please note: This adjustment is not a rent increase, but a preventive measure taking into account the current energy prices. You will receive a separate letter in the next few days with a detailed breakdown of the future rent composition.
