On December 15, 2022, the Bundestag passed the Natural Gas and Heat Price Capping Act and the Electricity Price Capping Act. Among other things, the laws provide for a price cap for 80% of the expected annual consumption of gas or heat for the heating system and general electricity in residential complexes. Consumers then only have to pay the remaining shares at the contractually agreed price.
The relief for consumers resulting from the price caps is financed by federal funds. GWH will take these amounts into account in the service charge statement for 2023; they will therefore benefit your share of heating costs or your share of operating costs. You do not need to do anything else for this, as we will settle the amount automatically. A direct payment to you by GWH is not possible, as this is not provided for by law.
Here you will find our general information letter for tenants as well as an overview PDF of the heating systems in the GWH portfolios, which shows the maximum calculated reimbursement quota.
The assumed relief amounts are only provisional values, as these are projections and not amounts already received from the federal government. Even amounts paid out by the supplier are subject to repayment.

We explain what the implementation of the resolutions on the Natural Gas Heat Emergency Assistance Act (EWSG) means for you.
The Russian war of aggression has significantly exacerbated the situation on the already tense energy markets and led to extreme price increases in some cases over the course of 2022. Since then, private consumers as well as companies have had to reckon with significantly higher prices for gas and district heating.
In order to cushion these additional burdens, the Bundestag and Bundesrat have decided on short-term measures. The Natural Gas and Heat Emergency Relief Act (EWSG) of November 14 provides for one-off relief for consumers for grid-based natural gas and heat for December 2022. The relief is based on the agreed instalment payment or relates to 1/12 of the annual consumption of the heating system in the residential complex. Consumers also have the option of reducing their December advance payment by the last increased amount on a one-off basis.
Here you will find our general information letter for tenants on emergency aid as well as an overview PDF of the heating systems in GWH properties. This list shows you which reimbursement contribution is intended for the heating system belonging to your residential building. To find your building as quickly as possible, open the PDF file, press Ctrl + f and enter the correct designation of your street name (without house number).
Please note: The amount stated is calculated proportionately for all residential units supplied by the respective heating system.
